This week Ruth Spencer, Area Manager at Aquarius, was featured in an ITV News story about the rise in alcohol-related deaths during lockdown. Ruth spoke on behalf of Aquarius about how the way we deliver services has changed during lockdown, and that this rise in alcohol-related deaths is sadly unsurprising.
The rise in alcohol-related deaths is up by 16% since 2019, lockdown is unfortunately a likely contributing factor to that. We were saddened by the opening story in the news item from Diana about her husband Steve’s passing due to alcohol addiction, and our sympathies are with her and her family.
At Aquarius we are here to continue supporting people across the Midlands of all ages affected by alcohol, drugs and gambling. Including those recovering from substance misuse and the families impacted by this behaviour. Please see our services here for support.
