About Us

We’re Aquarius — a group of services across the Midlands and beyond, supporting people affected by alcohol, drugs, and gambling. Aquarius is part of Waythrough, a charity specialising in mental health, alcohol and drug support, and related areas. Together, we provide a wide range of services to help individuals, families, and communities.

Aquarius Merger With Waythrough

Aquarius will merge with our parent charity, Waythrough, on 1 April 2026. This follows a positive long‑standing relationship and reflects our shared commitment to supporting people affected by alcohol, drugs, and gambling.
There will be no changes to the teams, or the services that you use. Aquarius services will continue to operate as part of Waythrough’s Midlands area, and the support you receive will not be affected. Our top priority is making this transition as smooth as possible for the people we support.

Joining together formally will allow us to build on our strengths, access Waythrough’s wider national infrastructure, and create more opportunities to help people across England.

Aquarius has supported people since 1977, and this proud legacy will remain central to our work as we join with Waythrough. Over the coming months, we will share updates and ensure people using our services, colleagues, partners and commissioners remain well‑informed.

Together with Waythrough, we are committed to building on Aquarius’ strengths and expanding our ability to help people across England achieve a life they value.

For over 40 years, we’ve worked with individuals, families and communities to help them understand their behaviour, overcome harm, and move towards a life they value.

We don’t judge. We don’t tell people what to do. We listen, we support, and we walk alongside people for however long they need us.

What We Support

Everyone’s experience is different. That’s why we offer support that adapts to individual needs, life stages, and communities.

Aquarius is part of the Waythrough family

Aquarius is part of Waythrough, which means we belong to a wider group of services providing specialist support across substance use, gambling, mental health, housing, and domestic abuse throughout England.

We recognise that people’s lives don’t fit neatly into labelled boxes, and that finding the right help can be difficult when things feel overwhelming. Too often, individuals face closed doors when what they really need are open pathways and clear answers.
With a shared vision, we work together to remove the barriers that prevent people from accessing the support they need to live a life they value. Aquarius and Waythrough collaborate to deliver high‑quality, evidence‑based services that are shaped around the needs of the people and communities we serve.

Our Approach

We believe that behaviour makes sense when you understand the full context of someone’s life. That means looking beyond the surface, at relationships, housing, health, culture, community, and what someone is really trying to cope with, avoid, or escape.

Our role isn’t to fix people

It’s to hear them, to see them, and to meet them where they are. We help people recognise what’s going on, understand their patterns, and take steps that feel possible and right for them.

All our services are grounded in behavioural approaches and built on evidence, but delivered with empathy, flexibility, and a deep respect for lived experience.
We work with young people, adults, families and communities. Some people come to us for a short time, others stay connected for longer. However you access support, we’ll meet you where you are, and move forward together.

Alongside one-to-one and group support, many of our services offer outreach, peer programmes, family support, and offer activities to build connection and confidence.

Our training and consultancy arm, Aquarius Life is designed to help employers and organisations create healthier, more supportive workplaces.

From one-off sessions to full staff programmes, we offer evidence-based training on topics like alcohol, drugs, gambling and wellbeing. Delivered by experienced professionals, our courses help teams feel more confident, informed and prepared to support others, and themselves.

Encouraging Open Conversations About Money

Every day, we speak to people who feel anxious about bills, repayments, or managing their money and we know that gambling can sometimes make these financial worries more difficult to manage. What may start as a way of making money, escaping stress or an attempt to “win back” losses can quickly lead to greater financial…
