Here To Help
GROW is a participation project that offers skill-building and support for all young people in Birmingham. It’s about learning new things, making real connections, and building a sense of community all while getting stuck into the outdoors.
You’ll learn how to grow your own food, cook healthy meals, and even gain qualifications along the way. Whether you’re planting your first seed or trying something completely new, GROW is a place to be yourself and take that next step forward
What it’s all about
GROW isn’t just about digging and planting. It’s about creating a supportive, welcoming space where you can build confidence, learn practical skills, and feel part of something.

Research shows that spending time outdoors and connecting with nature can have a positive impact on mental health and overall wellbeing

You’ll take part in activities like:
Upcycling and furniture restoration

Cooking simple, healthy meals on a budget

Growing fruit, vegetables, herbs and trees

Taking part in garden-building projects

Relaxing and recharging in nature

Why it matters
When life feels overwhelming, it can be hard to focus on yourself. GROW gives you space to slow down, get involved, and find a new rhythm. It’s fun, hands-on, and always evolving—just like you.
Interested in joining?
Professionals can refer anyone under 18 to Grow. We work in partnership with local schools, and many referrals come through their enrichment activities and pupil wellbeing sessions. We also receive referrals from Youth Justice, Forward Thinking Birmingham, and Early Help.
